This cat is dead. It seems like this post shouldn’t still be getting notes because of this, but obviously that doesn’t make any sense.

My cat died.

I was hoping it was peripheral vestibular disease,

but nope, it’s central vestibular disease. (That means that instead of Ziggy’s inner ear, the part that’s fucked up is the part of Ziggy’s brain that interprets the data gathered in his inner ear.) Ziggy can’t jump onto things or prevent itself from falling off of things, and is reluctant to move around or stand up. Any change in posture has a chance of triggering a mild seizure, during which he goes rigid, buries his claws in something, drools, and sort of moans.

The fun part about vestibular disease is that it has lots of potential causes, and nobody in Jackson looks at cat brains. Doctor prescribed an antibiotic and an antihistamine, but if the cause is viral or fungal, or a tumor, it will stay the same or get worse. Also the diagnosis and meds cost a third of the money that I have.

  • How is he taking up so much of the bed
  • He only weighs like nine pounds

Ziggy Starcat is the predator,

the button that keeps my boxers closed, his prey.
